France offers something for just about everyone: museums, cathedrals, food, skiing, palaces, specialty tours (wine, culinary, hiking, etc.), Versailles, mountain climbing, beaches, shopping, nightlife, sidewalk cafes, health spas, carnivals, casinos, festivals, architecture, walled medieval towns, the Alps, coastal scenery, canal trips, and French art and culture and, of course, Paris, with its monuments, street life and sense of style.
For visitors, all of France can seem like a market it's one of those rare countries where every region offers something worthwhile and distinctive. Paris represents the height of fashion, art and food—its sense of style is so strong it intimidates some visitors, yet the city can also be remarkably comfortable and intimate. The provinces offer their own landscapes and cultures: the glittering crowds of the Cote d'Azur, the elegant chateaus of the Loire Valley, the hospitable vineyards of Bordeaux, the rocky coasts of Brittany, the dramatic slopes of the Alps and the Pyrenees and the charming farms and villages of Provence. The country can satisfy just about any traveler's taste.
Special Events & Special Experiences in France
PARIS – French Open
The French Open is billed as the most challenging of all the grand
slams. Over the years the French Open has epitomised the steel and resolve of the very
best in tennis, and the Roland Garros Stadium is a more that apt venue, it is named after the World War I fighter pilot who gave his life for 'King and Country', and his bravery is remembered and celebrated on the dusty, challenging red clay courts every year.
MONTE CARLO-Grand Prix
One of the world's greatest and most challenging motor races as well as one of the most exotic and recognized events in all of sport. The Monaco Grand Prix is staged around the narrow, winding streets of Monte Carlo. The main attraction is the proximity of the speeding Formula One cars to the race spectators. The twisting 77-lap circuit offers incalculable opportunities for spectators to witness the thrill of screaming engines, smoking tires and the genius of the drivers over the 263-kilometre race on a course that allows no margin for error.
CANNES Film Festival
For 12 days in May the city of Cannes is transformed from a quiet seaside resort into the entire focus of the international film industry. Over 200,000 people, filmmakers, film fans, and star-gazers alike, descend on the Croisette to take part in the Festival de Cannes. During these two weeks thousands of films are screened, careers are made (and ruined), and stars from all over the world gather to bask in the limelight.
MONACO Tour De France
The first Tour de France in 1903 was designed as a publicity stunt for the French sports newspaper L’Auto; a race that was for the toughest of professional cyclists of the time. The course was marked out to be a round France stage race, covering a distance of 2428 km, taking place over 19 days in six stages and rankings based on the cumulative time over the course of the tour. At the very first tour de France sixty riders began that first race. The winner who dominated throughout the tour was Maurice Garin, who still today holds the record for a win by the
greatest margin of 2 hours and 49 mins.
