CHRISTMAS in EUROPE- it may even be a White Christmas.

Europe celebrates Christmas in a way that happens nowhere else. We have our favourite destinations and some of them are rather secret. But let us tell you about a few possibilities here, and then get in touch with us to find out the rest!

BOHEMIA
A medieval Bohemian Christmas can be found at Cesky Krumlov, on the Danube in the Czech Republic, where you can feast on a 5 course dinner in the Catcombs under the town square.  On Boxing Day, you can dress in 16th century garb for the “Rosenburg Feast”in a grand dining hall built in the Baroque period.  For under $4,000 per person we can whisk you from Frankfurt via Vienna and Prague to this wonderful experience over the course of 13 days.
BLACK FOREST
We can get you to a festive Christmas deep in the heart of the Black Forest, near the lovely town of Triberg. Expect to visit the medieval towns of Heidlberg, Freiburg and Strasbourg Christmas markets, which date back to 1570, making it one of the oldest and finest in Europe. Christmas Eve (der Heilige Abend, literally the "Holy Evening") will be in a village in the Black forest with a traditional festive dinner, including a village torchlight walk. For well under $5,000 you and your significant other can be part of a small group spending over a week do all this and more.
DRESDEN
For those who like more privacy, we can arrange a bespoke tour program that takes in the gorgeous Christmas markets of northern Germany. Dresden's Christmas Market is traditionally called Striezelmarkt, it is Germany's oldest Christmas Market with a very long history dating back to 1434. Its name derives from Hefestriezel, a sweet delicacy which centuries later has become know as “Dresden Christstollen” (German Christmas Cake).

The traditional Christmas Market in Dresden with its romantic and festive charm is an inspiration in itself, a real treasure trove for real traditional hand made crafts. Event highlights of this Christmas Market in Dresden is the Stollen Festival on the Saturday before the second Sunday in Advent (6th Dec 08) and the Pyramid Festival on the Saturday before the third Sunday in Advent (13th Dec 08).
BERLIN
In Berlin, a Christmas market will be held in front of Charlottenburg Castle. The Christmas Market will feature the Biedermeier period. Historic carriage rides, theme exhibits in the palace itself, and specialized lighting will feature the fascinating era between 1815 and 1848. Allow us to piece together a wonderful soujorn, including concerts and  glorious feasts in this grand city.
SALZBURG
Finally, if you have less time and more romance, the Schloss Fuschl castle near Salzburg will place you in your private Chalet, situated directly at lake’s edge of Fuschl Lake with a breathtaking view over water and forests.. You will prepare a luxurious bath and then be spoilt with a romantic 4-course dinner for two in your private chalet on one evening of your choice. Their butler will contact you beforehand in order to discuss the menu. Imagine snow falling outside your windows while spending a cosy afternoon in front of your open fire place or in your private sauna. This is a special Christmas package exclusive to Swiss Travel. Contact us for more detail. For this fairytale escape!
