Day 1: Arrival in St. Moritz
Receive information and collect your bicycle. If you have time take a walk or ride your bicycle round the lake to get a quick impression of this fashionable Swiss winter resort. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 2: St. Moritz – Zernez approx. 35 km
Travel the 35 km from St Moritz to Zernez through the valley of the Upper Engadine, the door to the Swiss National Park. On the way enjoy Samedan (Old Tower), La Punt (early gothic church San-Andrea with its frescos) and Zuoz (window paintings in the church San Luzi). Overnight in Zernez.
Day 3: Zernez – Scuol approx. 35 km
After breakfast journey through historic villages and take with you memories of magical landscapes as you visit Lavin and the village Guarda ("Look!") the lookout offering the beautiful views before arriving to Scuol, famous for its spas. Overnight in Scuol.
Day 4: Scuol – Ried approx. 55 km
Today we travel over the border to Austria. Follow the Inn Trail through Martina, Pfunds and Tosers arriving to Ried. The journey follows the river Inn; Finstermünzer Schlucht (gorge); town centres of Stuben and Pfunds/Tirol. Overnight in Ried.
Day 5: Ried – Imst approx. 40 km
Journey to the village of Imst through the "Obere Gericht (Upper Court)" from Ried over Prutz down to Landeck (castle with museum, ruin Schrofenstein, Gerberbrücke - a showplace of the Tyrolean struggles for freedom). We pass the monastery of Zams and travel through Milser Au to Imst (town of the wells, lots of churches and chapels). Time permitting a visit to Rosengartenschlucht (rose garden gorge) is recommended. Overnight in Imst.
Day 6: Imst – Innsbruck approx. 65 km
The villages of Stams, Telfs and Inzing will make your journey to the Olympic city Innsbruck a feast for your eyes. Cultural highlight of today's stage include the Zisterzienserstrift Stams (collegiate church with rose grids) numerous small churches and ruins are on the ascents of the Inn-valley. The city of Innsbruck with its Golden Roof, a late gothic bay window built in 1500 is a must visit on this last day of this cycling path. Return your bicycle and overnight in Innsbruck.
Day 7: Innsbruck and individual departure
After breakfast, consider to stay longer in Innsbruck or depart for your next European destination.
Route Features
Partly cycling paths, partly gravel paths. The stages are a little bit hilly, with two to three middle ascents and a lot of regular down hills. Before considering this trail, take medical advice on your fitness levels.
